Morning Star: June CPI Report Shows Inflation Slowed More Than Expected

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that the Consumer Price Index increased 3.5% in June from year-ago levels after increasing 4.2% in May. Year-over-year core CPI (which excludes volatile food and energy costs) rose 2.6%, lagging the May rate of 2.9%.

Overall inflation fell 0.4% month over month after rising 0.5% in May. Core inflation was unchanged from May.
